Flood advisory issued for Texas County until 3 pm

The National Weather Service in Amarillo has issued an * Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory for minor flooding of poor drainage areas in… southern Texas County in the Panhandle of Oklahoma… this includes the city of Guymon… * until 300 PM CDT.

* at 1154 am CDT… National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated a large area of showers and thunderstorms in southern Texas County moving northeast at 30 mph. Radar rainfall estimates suggest 2 to 3 inches of rain have already fallen between Guymon and Goodwell.

Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible in the advisory area.

Precautionary/preparedness actions…

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause elevated levels on small creeks and streams… and ponding of water on country roads and farmland along the banks of creeks and streams.

Do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the roadway. The water depth may be too great to allow your car to cross safely. Move to higher ground.
