OPSU student athletes of the week

By Scott Puryear

Goodwell, Okla. — During the school year, Oklahoma Panhandle State University recognizes Student Athletes of the Week — an honor based on citizenship, leadership, academic accomplishment, and athletic performance.

This week, two fine seniors have earned the honors — Katie Jolly of the Lady Aggie rodeo team and football player William “Will” Turnbo.

Will Turnbo (all 6’4″ and 280-pounds of him) is in his fourth year as a starter on the Aggie defensive line. A soft spoken young man, Turnbo is one tough cookie on the football field and has earned post season honors for his playing performance. Hailing from Wesson, Mississippi he is also a good performer in the classroom, majoring in Industrial Technology.

Katie Jolly of the women’s rodeo team is a solid competitor who leads by example. In addition to her fine work in rodeo, she is one of the friendliest young people on the OPSU campus. She is from Deer Trail, Colorado, and does a fine job in the classroom, pursuing a degree in English. She also has her eye on graduate studies in Business.

There are many fine young people participating in intercollegiate athletics who represent Oklahoma Panhandle State University and Jolly and Turnbo are just two of them.
