OPSU student athletes of the week

By Scott Puryear

Goodwell, Okla. — During the school year, Oklahoma Panhandle State University recognizes Student Athletes of the Week — an honor based upon citizenship, leadership, academic accomplishment, and athletic performance.

Recognized this week are two hard working basketball players — Stephen Colvin and Kariz Bioni.

Kariz Bioni is a 5’9 guard with the Lady Aggie basketball team. An international student from Brazil, Bioni was an All-Heartland Conference honoree last season and is the leading scorer on this year’s squad at just under 13 points per game. She is a senior and working toward a degree in the OPSU Nursing program.

Stephen “Steph” Colvin is pretty easy to spot on the OPSU campus. Standing seven feet tall and weighing in at 300 pounds, the affable Colvin has just begun his career on the Aggie basketball team. A junior, he comes from Yucaipa, California and he has his sights set on earning his diploma in psychology.

Colvin and Bioni are two of the many examples of the fine young people participating in college athletics as they represent Oklahoma Panhandle State University.
