25: The Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation, Oklahoma State University – Dept of Natural Resources Ecology and Management, and the Nature Conservancy are holding a prescribed burn field day at the J.T. Nickel Preserve north of Tahlequah. Any landowner, land manager, or producer interested in learning proper prescribed burning techniques and procedures is encouraged to attend. Workshop begins at 9:00 session will consist of classroom to cover fire basics, burn laws, burn plans, equipment, etc. Afternoon session will conduct a prescribed burn weather permitting. Please bring appropriate attire if you want to participate in the burn. Lunch provided (Please RSVP). 27: The Langston University Aquaculture Program will offer workshops for ornamental fish pond hobbyists, professionals, and commercial aquaculturists in the Research, Education and Extension Complex located on the main campus. Registration begins at 8 a.m. and the workshop starts at 9 AM. The workshop is free and intended to provide educational and collaborative opportunities for enthusiasts, producers and researchers. 5: The SE Strutter’s Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation in McAlester is having there 16th Annual Hunting Heritage Fundraising Banquet at Southeast Expo Center, west Hwy 270, McAlester. The evening events include a fine meal, live and silent auction, games and also you could go home with one of several guns to be given away that night.
