Robert Yanke, 98, died late Monday, Aug. 30, 2010, at the Hansford Manor, Spearman, Texas.
He was born April 10, 1912, in Enid, Oklahoma. He was adopted by Daniel and Dora Dea Yanke at birth. He married Hannah Kirschman on Nov. 15, 1931, in Booker, Texas.
He was a farmer most of his life, owning a farm in Beaver County, Oklahoma, then moving to a farm in Welch, Oklahoma. After selling his farm near Welch, he came to Gruver, Texas, and was employed on the JC Harris farm for several years. After retiring from farming, he and Hannah moved to the Plainview School, near Griggs, OK, working as the cook and janitor.
The Yankes moved to Guymon and Robert worked at Texas County Feed Yard for several years. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Hannah died Feb. 1, 1995. In 2002, Mr. Yanke moved into the Hansford Manor in Spearman, TX.
Survivors include three sons, Albert Yanke and wife, Karlynn of Wakeeney, KS; Clarence Yanke and wife, Marilyn of Sunray, TX; and Vernon Yanke and wife, Alco of Amarillo, TX; a daughter, Bonita McKisson of San Antonio, TX; 10 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren; and a half sister – Dora Mae and James Terry, of Perryton, TX.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his biological mother, Anna Koop Nightengale; wife, Hannah Kirshman Yanke; sister, Alma Worth and brother, Rudolph McCrady.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday afternoon, Sept. 3, 2:00 PM, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1212 North Crumley, Guymon, OK with Pastor Mark Wescoatt, officiating. Interment will follow in Elmhurst Cemetery under the care of Henson-Novak Funeral Directors.
