A Guymon man is dead and another listed in critical condition following a single vehicle rollover near Tyrone Thursday afternoon. Twenty-one -year-old Juan Gutierrez of Guymon was pronounced dead from head and internal injuries at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal.
According to Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the rollover occurred at 2:25 p.m. Thursday on Highway 54 one mile west of Tyrone when the right rear tire of an eastbound 2002 Honda Odyssey driven by Fidelino Castro, 28, of Guymon, blew out. The van went off the right side of the road, rolled two complete times, coming to rest on its wheels.
Castro was transported to Memorial Hospital of Texas County in Guymon, where he was treated and released. Only he was wearing a seatbelt.
Also in the vehicle were Orlando Morales, 33, of Guymon, who was taken to Southwest Medical Center, where he was treated and released; Carlo Morales, 25, of Guymon, was taken to Southwest Medical Center, where he was admitted with leg and arm injuries. He was later transferred to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. He’s listed in critical condition.
Carlo Morales and Gutierrez were ejected out the left rear window.
The incident was investigated by Trooper Eric Brown of the Hooker Detachment, assisted by Trooper Grant Arnold, Trooper Brandon Bussey, Trooper Ryan Williams, Tyrone Police Department, Hooker EMS and Seward County (Kansas) EMS.
