A Guymon man was injured in an early morning wreck on a county road near Optima Thursday.
According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol report, Marco Antonio Salas Robles, 30, of Guymon was eastbound in a 2001 Ford F150 pickup at 5:19 a.m. Thursday on a county road 2 miles north and 1 mile west of Optima when he failed to stop at a stop sign and struck a southbound 1996 Peterbilt tractor-trailer driven by Larry Martin, 70, of Hugoton.
Robles was taken to Memorial Hospital in Texas County and then transferred to Northwest Texas Hospital in Amarillo, where he’s listed in critical but stable condition with head and trunk internal injuries. Martin, who was wearing a seatbelt, was not injured.
Robles was pinned for 25 minutes. OHP did not know if he was wearing a seatbelt.
The accident was investigated by Trooper Ryan Williams of the Guymon Detachment. He was assisted by Trooper Michael Eckhardt, Size and Weights Trooper Boyd Perry, Texas County Sheriff’s Office and Hooker EMS.
