Guymon City Council has called a special meeting Tuesday to consider and possibly act on a medical provider ordinance as requested by Memorial Hospital of Texas County at Thursday’s regular meeting.
According to the agenda, the ordinance would amend part 8 of the Guymon City Code by creating a new chapter 9 called hospitals, ambulatory surgical care facilities, and imaging centers; providing for definitions; providing for a permitting process; providing for an application for permit and content thereof; requiring certain filing fees; providing for issuance, denial, and effective date of permit; and providing for severability; providing for repealer and declaring an emergency.
Per a copy of the ordinance available at Thursday night’s meeting, in addition to any other permits required, there would be an added application for permit to the City Clerk and must include a demonstration of the probable impact of the proposed facility on existing hospital and surgical and imaging services in the City of Guymon, including permitted facilities not yet completed.
There’s also a filing fee of at least $10,000 plus any added costs including a feasability study if it’s needed. If all requirements are met, a public hearing must be held within 180 days of receipt of the original application. Reports from city staff, planning commission and results from the public hearing would be used by City Council to determine whether to grant a permit, which would be valid for 18 months.
The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 3, in council chambers at City Hall, 219 NW 4th St.
