The big news of the night came as an aside during the engineer’s explanation to the Guymon Utilities Authority of a change order for the wastewater treatment plant. He noted that with the treatment plant discharging into the Beaver River, that water had to go somewhere and his prediction was that there would be water in Optima Lake within 10 years.
Of course, there won’t be a dam there if Sen. Tom Coburn and the Army Corps of Engineers have their way, but I digress.
Possible awarding of bids relating to water system improvements/water well construction was tabled until the next meeting because the bids came in about $600,000 lower than anticipated so City Manager Ted Graham is going to prepare information for council to consider about possible additional water projects to use up the balance of the $1.9 million loan.
