From information provided by Sara Richter Goodwell, Okla. — Oklahoma Panhandle State University’s Dr. Sara Jane Richter will be honored at the Oklahoma State Historic Preservation Office Conference in June for her research and work on the Hay Meadow Massacre. By Melyn Johnson, Main Street Guymon director Summer has arrived and it is soon to be Farmers Market time. The market in Guymon is held every Saturday morning from 8 to noon during the months of July, August and September. Texas County residents have two opportunities to party with cancer fighters and celebrate the 100th birthday of the American Cancer Society. Cancer survivors and current or prior caregivers are especially invited to join the celebrations. After four years and winning national honors for his video work, Film Director Joel Trujillo is back – ready to revisit his zombie genre he began seven years ago. May is just around the corner and with it comes, hopefully, the arrival of warmer weather and the end of a wonderful school year for many children and young adults out there! We at the library hope that you are all finding time to read a new book or revisit an old favorite. Summer Reading [...] Guymon’s Farmers Market has once again received a grant from the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food, and Forestry. The grant of $1,500 requires a match of $500.
Entries are now being accepted in the Epic Touch 2013 Guymon Pioneer Days Coloring Contest with entries closing and judging by the public opening at noon on Monday, April 29, at all three Epic Touch Retail Stores in Elkhart and Liberal, Kan., and Guymon, Okla. |
