Daily livestock summary 12/31/09

Amarillo — Here’s the daily livestock summary for Thursday, Dec. 31, 2009.

                               CATTLE      
Direct Trade:  In the direct slaughter cattle trade in the Five Major Marketing Areas,  Texas/Oklahoma; Kansas; Nebraska; Colorado; Iowa/Minnesota; Thurs far for Thursday trading in the Southern Plains has been limited on light demand.  In Nebraska and Iowa/Minnesota trading has been slow on light demand.  In Colorado trading was inactive.  In Nebraska, compared to Wednesday the last established market, dressed clean up sales sold steady from 135.00 to 136.00.  In Iowa/Minnesota clean up dressed sales sold steady at 135.00.  In Colorado, on Wednesday live sales sold at 84.00. In the Texas Panhandle, on Wednesday the latest established market, live sales sold from 85.00 to 85.50.  In Kansas live sales sold at 84.00 dressed sales ranged from 134.00 to 135.00.   Steers: Live basis; (all Grades: 2,304 head) 82.00-85.50, weighted average price 84.58.  Dressed basis; (all Grades: 5,155 head) 132.00-136.00, weighted average price 135.43.  Heifers: live basis; (all Grades: 1,865 head) 82.00-85.50,  weighted average 84.64.  Dressed Basis; (all Grades: 2,526 head) 134.50-136.00, weighted average 135.49.
