Direct Trade: In the direct slaughter cattle trade in the Five Major Marketing Areas, Texas/Oklahoma; Kansas; Nebraska; Colorado; Iowa/Minnesota:  Negotiated cash beef type steer and heifer trading was inactive in the Southern and Northern Plains.  Trading was slow on light demand in the Western Cornbelt, but not enough sales to establish an adequate market trend.

56.41.  Iowa-Minnesota .77 hgr at 50.00-58.50, weighted average price 56.93. 
Western Cornbelt .49 hgr at 50.00-58.50, weighted average price 57.15 and
Eastern Cornbelt .74 hgr at 47.00-57.23, weighted average price 54.73.      
         
   Live Basis (240-280 lbs): National direct trade barrows and gilts 1.57 hgr
at 34.21-44.67, weighted average 42.53.  Iowa-Minnesota 1.37 hgr at 39.00-
43.00, weighted average 41.67.  Western Cornbelt 1.74 hgr at 39.00-44.67,
