Daily livestock summary 07/29/10

Amarillo — Here’s the daily livestock summary for Thursday, July 29, 2010.

                                  CATTLE
Direct Trade: In the direct slaughter cattle trade in the Five Major Marketing Areas, Texas/Oklahoma; Kansas; Nebraska; Colorado; Iowa/Minnesota; trading in the Texas Panhandle has been limited on light demand.  Compared to last week, a few early live sales have sold 2.00 lower.  In Kansas and the Northern Plains trading has been slow to moderate on light to moderate demand.  In Kansas, compared to last week, live sales have sold 2.00 to 2.50 lower, and dressed sales have sold 3.00 lower at 148.00.  In Nebraska, compared to Wednesday, live sales sold steady, and dressed sales sold unevenly steady.  In Colorado live sales sold 2.00 lower when compared to last week.  In Iowa/Minnesota trading was limited on light demand.  Not enough traded sales to establish an adequate market trend. 
   Steers: live basis; (all Grades: 11,580 head) 91.50-93.75, weighted average
price 92.83.  Dressed basis; (all Grades: 5,130 head) 145.00-150.00, weighted
average price 148.22.  Heifers: live basis; (all Grades: 10,656 head) 91.00-
93.00, weighted average price 92.89.  Dressed Basis; (all Grades: 4,417 head)
147.00-149.00, weighted average price 147.95.

price 83.65.  Iowa-Minnesota 2.61 lower at 73.00-83.00, weighted average price
81.57.  Western Cornbelt 1.98 lower at 73.00-83.00, weighted average price 81.51
and the Eastern Cornbelt 3.73 higher at 75.00-88.00, weighted average price
84.80.

   Live Basis (240-300 lbs): National direct barrows and gilts .30 lower at
