    Actual Receipts:  14,572   Last Monday: 12,765   Year Ago Monday:  12,126
       Compared to last week:  Markets improved late in the day.  Feeder
    steers closed steady to 2.00 higher.  Feeder heifers steady.  Stocker
    steers steady.  Stocker heifers steady to 2.00 higher.  Demand improved
    late in the day but quality of cattle also an improvement.  Unlike last
    week supply of cattle mostly in medium to fleshy conditions and not
    many cattle available for spring grass.  Early supplies of cattle
    included several crossbreds.  Spring storms moved thru the state leaving
    most everyone with measurable rain.

       Carcass Basis: based on 185 lbs hog carcass with 0.9-1.1 inch back fat and 6       
    inch square loin/2.0 inch depth plant delivered.  National direct trade barrows       
    and gilts were .12 lwr with prices ranging from 63.50-76.00, weighted average
    price 72.39.  Iowa-Minnesota was .44 lwr at 63.50-76.00, weighted average price
    73.39.  Western Cornbelt was .02 lwr at 63.50-76.00, weighted average price
    73.30 and Eastern Cornbelt was .52 lwr at 63.50-72.30, weighted average price
    69.81.      
             
       Live Basis (240-280 lbs): National direct barrows and gilts were 1.44 lwr at
    50.50-58.35, weighted average price 55.66.  Iowa-Minnesota was 2.58 lwr at
    50.50-58.35, weighted average 55.34.  Western Cornbelt was 2.39 lwr at 50.50-
    58.35, weighted average price 55.43.  Eastern Cornbelt was .28 hgr at 54.65-
